Thanks to everyone who braved the cold and attended the screening of Farhadi’s The Beautiful City at the New Law Building in the University of Sydney on 20th of June. From what it looked like our audience were intrigued by the film and the panel discussion that followed where many got a chance to clarify or speak their mind about some of the controversial issues that the film touches on. Although these sessions proved popular, where viewers were entertained and informed through the discussions, and as much as we enjoyed organising them, this was the last session in our tribute to Farhadi program for the year. We have already started working on next year’s program.
But, in the mean time if you enjoyed the discussions and feel like contributing on a more formal level, don’t forget that we are publishing a special issue of Literature and Aesthetics dedicated to New Wave Iranian Cinema. Check out the call for papers and don’t forget to submit your abstract by July 20th.
